Speaker of the Senate

Nick Petreikis
(HE/HIM)

  • LinkedIn

Nick is a senior majoring in Public Policy and Administration. He was originally appointed in Fall 2022, previously serving as Senate Parliamentarian, Deputy Speaker of the Senate, and as a member of the Segregated University Fee Allocation Committee (SUFAC) for nearly three years. He most recently served as its Chairman, where he oversaw the responsible annual allocation and review of over $13 million in student segregated fees, before resigning to accept the role of Speaker of the Senate.
Now as Speaker, Nick is committed to fostering a more engaged and effective Senate by increasing opportunities for student involvement and ensuring that student voices are actively represented in university decision-making processes. He is focused on building a Senate that not only represents students, but works for them.
Outside of student government, Nick is actively involved on campus and in the broader community, serving as Vice President of Finance for Enactus and as Vice Chair of the City of Whitewater’s Board of Zoning Appeals, while continuing his commitment to public service and leadership.

Deputy Speaker of the Senate

Elizabeth Vanderhei
(sHE/Her)

Elizabeth Vanderhei is a freshman majoring in Actuarial Science and Business Analytics. She is currently a member of SUFAC and is a dual-sport athlete, competing on both the Women's Golf and Bowling Teams.

She was recently selected as the NTCA Division III Rookie of the Year for her bowling performance over the past year. Competing at the varsity level, I helped lead our team to several tournament wins. Through golf, she developed discipline and grew her ability to learn and listen. Not coming in with the most experience, but through listening to teammates and coaches, she has put herself in a strong position for the future.

While her experience within student government is still growing, she is committed to prioritizing efficiency across all aspects of the Senate, from meetings to the legislative process, and prioritizing continuing to build well-rounded relationships with all Senators.
